Vedaste Hategekimana is Coordinating Pain-Free Hospital Initiative at the Rwanda Ministry of Health through it’s Rwanda Biomedical Center/RBC. He joined RBC after a 7 years period working at Butaro Cancer Center of Excellence as an Oncology Nurse Educator. He has coordinated the oncology Department activities as a cancer care nurse coordinator since the opening of the cancer center of excellence opened in 2012. He has been trained in different disciplines of cancer care and NCDs including Palliative care training, Chemotherapy safe, Clinical breast
examination. He is also a national facilitator for Baseline cancer training of Nurses, Breast cancer Ultrasound and US/Guided core needle biopsy. Vedaste has contributed a lot to different researches conducted at Butaro cancer center and he had the opportunity to present some abstracts in international conferences including World Cancer Congress held in Paris 2016. Vedaste is strongly interested in caring for patients needing total pain management and he feels very comfortable when he sees patients reaching to their end of life are free from any kind of pain.
